“A genre-busting historical biography of an inspiring woman of faith”
This genre-busting novel tells a good story. An inspiring story of a worthy heroine whose humble hero’s journey takes her from the religious rigidity and spiritual awakening of the 1820s Hudson River Valley around Cape Horn through the Straits of Magellan (twice!) to the wilds of the 1840 Oregon Country. Showing an inspiring mix of courage and kindness, vulnerability and tenacity, this tenacious woman of faith comes to life in her letters back east, in the book’s historical and literary elaborations, and in the well-earned contextualization by the “humble narrator.”
